"I wish every company that came to town did what they said
they were going to do as CME and their development partner Calpine
have done in Fremont. They did everything they possible could to
meet both the demands of their project responsibility. The result
is a $300 million completed project."
-Fremont Mayor, Terry Overmyer
This project is now managed by AMP Ohio.
Challenge:
No Independent Power project had been developed yet in Latin America.
There was a complex regulatory, political and economical environment.
There was a clear need for privately financed power projects, particularly
in Andeans countries where dependency on hydro electricity led to
vulnerability during annual periods of floods and droughts.
MIT designed and built a cogeneration facility, gas-fired and single
cycle to provide electricity and steam to its campus and to Research
entities within the institution, along with selling excess electricity
to an adjacent public utility. Eventually, MIT faced technical and
operational problems and engaged CME, leading to the correction of these challenges.
North America Project Development LLC (NAPD) is developing a 700 MW project with a confidential counter party.
CME successfully partners with both leading independent power companies and international investment and financial institutions to find creative solutions for developing, building, and operating the most efficient and environmentally responsible electric power plants.
