MIT designed and built a cogeneration facility, gas-fired and single
cycle to provide electricity and steam to its campus and to Research
entities within the institution, along with selling excess electricity
to an adjacent public utility. The technical interface difficulties
with the electric utility were resolved to the satisfaction of all.
CME was hired to evaluate the facility on all
technical and operational issues and to correct interface problems
with Cambridge Electric. CME, along with its subcontractor RW Beck,
created the evaluation framework and solutions which led to greater
operation efficiency, accurate metering, billing procedure and greater
run time. The technical interface difficulties were resolved.
